Moonshine Hill Inn

A couple months ago (October) was my parents anniversary (Congrats Mom & Dad!). They came down to Nashville to celebrate their many years together. My parents love trying out new inns and bed & breakfast places. They stayed at a place called Moonshine Hill Inn. Check it out here. I got to stay with them for one of the nights they were there for. The house was so nice and cozy! Every corner of the house had an antique or little nic nac in it. There were chocolates and waters on the beds. There was a full bed on the main floor in a little room off of the family room. There was a king bed and twin bed upstairs. My parents stayed upstairs and I took the full bed on the main floor. Breakfast was included with the stay at Country Boy Restaurant in Leiper's Fork. You could pick anything off the menu you wanted! I got to enjoy the breakfast after the night I stayed. I had the french toast and it was delish! I would try the pancakes next time. I had a lovely stay and would recommend this little inn to anyone trying to escape the hustle and bustle of life! The entire inn is on a beautiful property with smaller cabins behind the main house and a small pond to the side. There is even a paddle boat you can use. I would love to get married here someday! Enjoy the pics!

Happy Thanksgiving

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family! My parents and brother came down for Thanksgiving which was so nice. Had Thanksgiving dinner at my cousin's house. It was so good to be together with family from all over at the same time. We started our day off doing the Turkey Trot race in Cool Springs to benefit Graceworks which is a non-profit organization. It was a 5k race and helped get me ready to eat all of the Thanksgiving fixings later that day! Had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with family at my cousin's house. I made rolls, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. Everything turned out quite nicely! So blessed for everything I have been given, including being surrounded by family! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Give Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone was able to spend some time with loved ones and eat a delicious meal together. I enjoyed spending the day with family. My parents and brother came down to visit today. We were able to spend Thanksgiving at my cousin's house. There were 15 people total. I haven't had a big Thanksgiving in awhile so it was quite fun! I have taken some time to think about what I am truly thankful for...

1. Family :: I have grown up with a loving family all my life. I recently moved to Nashville and was blessed to be surrounded by extended family. It is fun being able to hang out with my cousins more often and still get to see my parents and brother!

2. Friends :: After moving to Nashville, I had to make new friends. It was hard to make new friends. I only knew a couple of people in the area. I was blessed with a wonderful small group at my new church down here. I have grown closer to several of the girls in my small group and enjoy spending time with them.

3. My Job :: Being able to take a supervisor position right out of college for the company I wanted to work for and in the exact location I wanted to work for was a dream come true. I absolutely love my new life down in Nashville and do not want to leave! I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

4. My Apartment :: Recently moved into a town house with a girl in my small group. So blessed to have met someone so nice and passionate for the Lord. My roomie is wonderful! My apartment is close by to my friends and family down here. I love living on my own and being able to support myself. What a wonderful feeling!

5. Opportunity :: I am thankful for the many opportunities that my family and I receive. My brother has been accepted to study abroad in Australia and my family and I get the opportunity to visit him next semester. I am super excited to visit Australia and it still hasn't sunk in yet!

6. My Church :: I am truly thankful for the church I have connected to. I have met so many people through my church and have become closer to a lot of them. I feel connected to people in my community and enjoy spending time with them.

7. Spare Time :: I work about 45 hours a week and get a lot of spare time to do things I enjoy. I recently joined the public library down here. I love taking walks/running around my neighborhood. I also find time to scrapbook, knit, and of course blog!

8. Education :: I am thankful for my college education. Boiler Up! I miss college so very much, but I am also loving post-college life just as much. I was blessed with funds for a 4 year college degree in hospitality and tourism.

9. Travels :: I am thankful for all the many many places I have gotten to travel to. Studying abroad in Florence, Italy for a semester and going to all sorts of places in Europe while I was there. For the many trips across the United States with my family (48 states total!). For my mission trip to Guatemala and for the international family trips to Greece, Italy, Switzerland, and Canada (soon Australia!).

10. Freedom :: I am thankful that I live in a country where we are free to worship and live how we want. I praise God for all that he has provided me with and I want to use what he has given me to give back to others to further his kingdom.

What are you thankful for?

Nashville Show & Tell

A few weekends ago a couple of my good friends from high school came to visit me in Nashville. It was so good to catch up with them and show them around my city. We have known eachother since high school and we also went to college together. They are from my hometown back in Indianapolis. I loved showing them around Franklin and Nashville. I think they really enjoyed it as well. We had lunch at the Franklin Mercantile Deli and dinner at the Flying Saucer in Nashville. Both restaurants have a great atmosphere! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

King of Heaven

Currently OBSESSED with this song. Sang
it in church on Sunday. All Sons & Daughters sang it
originally with Paul Baloche. Reminds me that God
is always with us no matter how many times
the world will suck us in. King of heaven
rise up - who can stand against us?

Live Like That

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I'm only just a memory.
When I'm home where my soul belongs.

Was I love when no one else would show up?
Was I Jesus to the least of these?
Was my worship more than just a song?

Do you ever wonder what people will remember about you?

Summer Fixings

When I get a day off from work I enjoy baking and cooking. I have been making dinner for my aunt, uncle, and myself once a week. It has been a lot of fun. The first meal I made for them was zucchini bread, couscous salad, and sauteed chicken in mustard-cream sauce. It was a lot of fun to make and tasted delicious!
The zucchini bread recipe I used was from Glorious Treats. The bread was insanely delicious! I couldn't stop eating it. The recipe makes enough for 2 small loaves. We ate one loaf and I took the other one into work and it was gone within minutes.
These are all the ingredients I used to make the zucchini bread. The only ingredients out of the ordinary that I had to buy were zucchinis and nuts. Pretty simple ingredients besides those two things! I used my aunt's Cuisinart food processor to chop up the zucchini into fine shreds. The Cuisinart was wonderful.
I blended the zucchini bread batter in my aunt's KitchenAid mixer. Someday hopefully I will have my own KitchenAid mixer and Cuisinart food processor!
This is what the zucchini bread batter looks like when it is ready to be baked! Doesn't look to appetizing now but trust me it will be when it is done!
I got my couscous recipe here. I did not add red pepper, parsley, or feta. Feta can be very expensive! It tasted wonderful without it.
I made sauteed chicken in a mustard-cream sauce. I got the recipe from Martha Stewart here. I used chicken broth and did not have tarragon so I used another spice instead. Hope you enjoy these recipes. The zucchini bread was by far my favorite!!

Light Up the Sky

Currently listening to: Lift Me Up by The Afters

I absoultely LOVE this song. A friend of mine introduced me to The Afters when I was in high school. I hadn't really heard their stuff since high school. But they recently just came out with the album Light Up the Sky. The band wrote this song as encouragement that God is always with them and will always lift them up. One of the band member's favorite inspirational verse is Psalm 23.

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Prov 2:1-6

Since I have moved down to Tennessee I have been trying out different churches. This past Sunday I went to The Journey. Little did I know that the band All Sons and Daughters originated from that church! How cool! I love listening to All Sons and Daughters. I was with a couple of friends who had spoken with one of the band members via email. We went up and talked with her after service. It was so neat to talk to one of the lead singers of the band. And it was just crazy to me that I was going to go to that church and didn't even know that that is where that band originated from and that they play there every Sunday! Love those little secrets that are hidden around Nashville.

My favorite All Sons & Daughters song by far is this one:
This is the band live at their home church in Franklin, TN
called The Journey. So honored to have met the lead singer
Leslie. She was so nice and down to earth!

Cousin Brunch

Had a lovely day off of work today. I spent the day with my cousins and their families. After church we went out to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. It was so much fun to be with both my cousins and my cousin's little daughter. She is six months old and just the cutest little thing! She was making all sorts of faces during lunch so I tried to get her picture while she was still for a few seconds. The last pic above is my other cousin's new house. It is so cute! I am so blessed to be able to be around my family now.

Hello Franklin!

I moved down to Franklin, Tennessee yesterday. I absolutely love it so far! I have a job at the new Drury Plaza Hotel in Franklin. I am looking forward to being a part of the opening team. Franklin has a lot of history and great little boutiques. There are also some neat pubs and restaurants. I can't wait to try some of them out!

Happy Christmas

Recently finished knitting another pair of socks! They were suppose to be finished by Christmas so I could give them to my roomie. I decided to give them to her for her birthday instead (which is in June). Just 6 months late! Thats how slow I am with knitting. I bought this yarn at Michaels. It is the type that changes colors by itself. I used a pattern from a friend and small needles. Ask if you have any questions! What do you like to knit?
